Overview

This position requires an individual with an extensive technical background in Administrator components like Enterprise Manager, Operations Manager, Object Manager and Command manager tools and techniques, as well as strong MSTR Architectural, analytical skills.

The role involves 85% hands-on technical work and 15% team management

The role may involve some travel. The travel may not be more than 20% of the total employable time per year. The travel may be to client location within India or overseas, mostly on business.

The work timings will be Standard IST timings 9:00 A.M – 6:00 P.M and include 9 PM – 6 AM (night shift) on a rotation basis. Sometimes there may be overlapping of work with US PST timings which may amount to 20-30% of work time.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5-8 years of total experience
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of experience as an MSTR Administrator
  • Certifications in MSTR Administrator roles & certificates in other components of MSTR like Analyst, Designer will be an added advantage

Essential Day-to-Day Responsibilities (High level)

  • Monitoring/managing overall system health
  • List of some of the network team parameters for checking system health
    • CPU Performance
    • Server Crash
    • Services high/low
  • Checking logs and performance troubleshooting
  • Assist Network/Server teams with necessary logs when needed for troubleshooting issues
  • Analyze Intelligence Server and Web Server logs while troubleshooting
  • Able to categorize the issue as Network issue / Database Issue / Application Issue etc.,
  • Support development teams via object/code migrations across environments.
  • Use Object Manager and get the packages from a developer and then migrate
  • Export the report to excel fails (solving issued due to data volume, Microsoft version problem, project-level setting for no. of rows)
  • Periodic license auditing/reporting for inactive users.
    • License Manager to pull the details
    • Enterprise Manager to get Inactive Users
    • Command manager scripts
  • Project Configuration
    • Duplicate project
    • Create new DSN and connections
    • Security Filter across projects
    • Project level and report level and user level
  • Narrowcast Server, services, Subscriptions, user accounts and setting up the NC console for users
    • When Server down then reboot
    • Service not available or if the user complaint then troubleshoot
    • The user is subscribed to the service and the user is not getting the report
    • Create a user in Narrowcast
    • New IT resource, Narrowcast resource set up
  • Manage project duplication, database instances, and connection mappings
    • Replicate all project settings
  • Support development teams with user/group security provisioning
  • Create web groups, office groups, desktop groups when a project is created with Standard Authentication
  • Updating passwords across all projects in the server (through ODBC)
  • Updating images across all servers/environments in all mobile, web, intelligence servers
  • Monitoring/tuning environment configuration and settings
  • Project configuration setting (should analyze and recommend)
  • VLDB properties (should analyze and recommend)
  • Solve High CPU usage if happens
  • Tuning Intelligent Server, Web Server for best results
  • Solving IIS issue and web pool issue
  • Monitoring/advising for addressing long-running reports
  • Develop mechanisms and automation for deploying or refreshing MicroStrategy projects) and configuration changes across various environments
    • User/Group Provisioning
    • Create an Automation script using command manager
    • ACL’s
    • DB Instances
  • Change governing and logging settings if needed for the best optimal performance of the system.
  • Changing the memory size, cache size or excel limits
  • Submitting and managing issues and enhancement cases with MicroStrategy for administration/environment-related items
  • Create schedule and events, maintained history, cache and governing the setting
    • Based on user request
    • Brand new report schedule
  • Installation, configuration, upgrading of software (server/client) components for major/minor/patch releases in Linux and Windows platforms
  • MSTR Client installation to users
  • Aid in developing/implementing/testing disaster recovery strategy and mechanisms for MicroStrategy architecture
  • Experience in Capacity planning and management
  • Perform Web SDK Deployment during development across environments
  • Ability to self-manage priorities and take ownership of deliverables.
  • Lead, persuade, and gain consensus from very diverse audiences.
  • Train and mentor development teams in cutting edge technologies.
  • Create detailed documentation for project purposes and future use.
  • Communicate with executive-level staff and large groups.
  • Define and implement performance improvement strategies.

Technical Requirements.

  • Experience in MSTR Administration including Enterprise Manager, Object Manager, Command Manager, Licensee Manager components
  • Should have worked in MSTR Servers in Linux/UNIX and Windows platforms
  • Should know the installation in standalone and clustering in Linux/UNIX environments
  • Performance tuning the dashboard, reports, cubes, and views
  • Performance tuning servers
  • Thorough knowledge in DB like Oracle, SQL server
  • Exposure to cloud environments like AWS is an advantage
  • Must have performance tuning experience with application and database
  • Must be well versed with all phases of SDLC
  • Strong ability to manage multiple and sometimes competing for priorities
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Work independently on complex tasks with minimal technical and management guidance.
