Calvin Klein – Fashion Trends Predictive Analysis


Calvin Klein, a leading brand name and trendsetter in the fashion industry, produces a range of products for men, women and kids. Some of the divisions are CK Jeans, CK Kids, CK Intimate Apparel and CK Menswear. Warnaco is the licensee for the CK brand name in these categories.


Because most of the apparel business operates on past fashion trends and projections, it was necessary that Calvin Klein had continuous visibility to historical information in order to make more informed business decisions for production, planning, sales and distribution.

Calvin Klein was transitioning to a new OLTP (On-line Transactional Processing) system. In the process, not only did they have to know how to work on the new system, but they had to be able to extract the correct information. This was necessary in order to do better analysis and get more in-depth information about their business. Further, Calvin Klein’s key executives needed the capability to set criteria and do analysis independently.


Systech successfully developed, designed, implemented and supported an end-to-end Business Intelligence Solution for Calvin Klein division of Warnaco. The data warehouse was necessary for CK to acquire more visibility into the complete value chain leading to an increase in overall efficiency.

The entire solution involved the following phases: understanding user requirements, designing the data warehouse, mapping data warehouse to OLTP, development and implementation of the load process, configuring front-end tools to the data warehouse, testing, training & go live and on-going support.


Calvin Klein is now able to make strategic as well as operational decisions based on the information provided by the data warehouse implemented by Systech. They now have a snapshot of the complete business leading to better forecasting and planning. Historical information on fashion trends are now visible. Production, planning, sales and distribution decisions can be made wisely.
