Study: GJM
GJM
is a private label manufacturer of sleepwear and intimate
apparel, with a majority of its vendors located overseas.
In order to reduce costs in its fulfillment process, GJM decided
to introduce drop shipments whereby the finished goods would
be shipped directly from the vendor location to the customer
distribution center. This meant that GJM’s procurement personnel
required a system that would help them to accurately track
the status, in near real time, of the direct shipments from
their vendors to their customers.
Systech
consultants implemented Global Distribution System, which
helped GJM to monitor the status of shipments of finished
goods all the way from factory to consolidator to cross-docker
to the end customer. The system also helped GJM to reduce
their inventory carrying costs by shipping goods directly
to its customers’ distribution centers.
GJM
immediately gained better visibility into the supply chain,
and within the year their China & Philippines installations
alone showed a cost savings of over $20 million.
